When I was in my early thirties, I packed up my belongings and moved from Virginia to Florida leaving behind a relationship, friends, family, and a job that had afforded me a very nice, affluent, lifestyle. I arrived stressed out, burned out, depressed, anxious, angry, and empty. I seemingly had everything I ever wanted, and yet I was lost.
I thought if I moved, I might feel better, but as the old saying goes, “No matter where you go, there you are,” and I was still me, feeling horrible in Florida.
The truth is, I was running from myself. I was running from a lifetime of pain, fear, disappointment, and heartache. Running, from things that were too big and too deep to get my mind around, and these feelings became too much to ignore. Many of these feelings began to surface in my 20’s when I was working as a Paramedic/Firefighter. I experienced a series of traumatic emergency calls that haunted me. I didn’t know how to “let it go.” This took a serious toll on my mental, emotional, and physical health, and I fell into a deep depression.
I wondered how I could heal and if it were even possible? That question started me on a 20+ year journey that would alter the course of my life forever. I have spent the past 2 decades deep-diving into therapies and philosophies which help to move trauma through the body, as well as change the negative emotions and stories in our minds to allow for greater peace, self-love, and well-being.
I am forever grateful to those who helped me along the way, and I’m honored to be part of your process.
