Who This Coaching Is For

This coaching is for women who sense that a chapter is closing and are not yet sure what comes next. Starting over after 45 looks different for everyone. Some women arrive after their children leave home. Others are rebuilding after a divorce or a loss, rethinking a career, preparing for retirement, or feeling that the life they built no longer fits who they have become. Common situations include a shifting sense of identity, lower confidence, strain in relationships, caregiver fatigue, and a quiet search for purpose. If you are a caregiver stretched thin, a homemaker ready for something of your own, or a professional at a turning point, you are welcome here. You do not need a plan or a clear goal to begin. Wanting something to change is enough.

Core Coaching Areas and What Your Sessions May Cover

FAQ'S

A life coach helps you gain clarity and move into action during change. Women over 45 often bring concerns such as shifting identity, confidence, relationships, an empty nest, retirement, and a search for purpose.

Darlene listens first, then builds a plan around your values and goals, using practical tools to help you feel steadier while you make decisions.

Yes. Many women reassess who they are when children grow up, careers change, relationships end, or long-held roles fall away. Questioning is a common part of life transitions, not a flaw.

Coaching gives you a supportive space to explore what still fits, what no longer does, and who you want to become, at a pace that feels right.

It can help you move toward it. Purpose tends to become clearer when you understand your values, interests, and strengths, then test them through small, real steps.

In sessions, Darlene helps you name what matters most, set goals that reflect it, and build an action plan, with check-ins between appointments to keep you moving.

Yes. Not knowing is a very common starting point, and clarity is often part of the work itself. Early sessions focus on listening, self-awareness, and sorting what is true for you from what you were told to want.

From there, you and Darlene shape goals one step at a time, with no pressure to have the answer on day one.

Yes. An empty nest can change your routines, your relationships, and your sense of identity all at once. Coaching helps you reflect on what you want this next season to hold, build routines that support you, strengthen your connections, and set personal goals that belong to you, not only to your family roles.

Yes. Coaching supports decision clarity and goal-setting, such as what kind of work or daily life you want next and how to take the first steps. Darlene does not provide financial, tax, or legal advice, so for money questions, consult a qualified professional alongside your coaching.

Coaching is forward-looking and goal-focused, built on self-awareness, action, and accountability. Therapy is provided by licensed mental health professionals who diagnose and treat mental health conditions.

“Nobody can “treat” a war, or abuse, rape, molestation, or any other horrendous event, for that matter; what has happened cannot be undone. But what can be dealt with are the imprints of the trauma on body, mind, and soul: the crushing sensations in your chest that you may label as anxiety or depression; the fear of losing control; always being on alert for danger or rejection; the self-loathing; the nightmares and flashbacks; the fog that keeps you from staying on task and from engaging fully in what you are doing; being unable to fully open your heart to another human being.

The challenge of recovery is to reestablish ownership of your body and your mind — of your self. This means feeling free to know what you know and to feel what you feel without becoming overwhelmed, enraged, ashamed, or collapsed. For most people this involves (1) finding a way to become calm and focused, (2) learning to maintain that calm in response to images, thoughts, sounds, or physical sensations that remind you of the past, (3) finding a way to be fully alive in the present and engaged with the people around you, (4) not having to keep secrets from yourself, including secrets about the ways that you have managed to survive.”
